Privacy Policy

PortugalSetup (“we”, “us”) runs portugalsetup.com, a guide to moving to and living in Portugal. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what rights you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@portugalsetup.com and we'll answer plainly.

What we collect

When you contact us or request a quote, we receive the details you type into the form — typically your name, email address, and what you need help with. We use this only to reply and, if you ask, to connect you with a vetted service provider.

When you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address to send you updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes you from the list.

When you browse, our hosting provider logs standard technical data (pages visited, browser type, approximate location) to keep the site secure and working. We do not run our own analytics profiling.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies: ones that keep the site functioning (such as remembering your cookie choice), and — only if you accept — cookies used to measure visits and to serve advertising. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser storage; the consent banner will reappear.

Advertising and Google

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary to run the service: our hosting provider (Vercel), our database provider (Supabase), and — only when you explicitly request a quote or introduction — the service provider you asked to be connected with. Advertising partners (Google) receive cookie data as described above.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Email hello@portugalsetup.com with your request and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Data retention

Contact and quote requests are kept for up to 24 months so we can follow up properly, then deleted. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs rotate automatically.

Children

This site is aimed at adults planning a move. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, note it on the site. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
