NIF + bank account bundles: the two-in-one deal, priced honestly

Three providers now sell the NIF and the bank account as one package, with the bundle page always quoting a tempting discount. We checked the separate prices against the bundle prices in October 2026, added up what each deal really saves, and asked the uncomfortable question: is the bundle ever worth it, or should you buy the NIF from the cheapest provider and the bank account from the best one?

Two pieces of paperwork unlock everything else: the NIF and the bank account. Providers bundle them — the savings are smaller than the banners suggest.

Key takeaways

  • →Cheapest one-stop option: Novomove's solo package at €359 — €20 off buying the NIF (€79) and bank account (€300) separately, with 12 months of fiscal representation in the NIF half. The couple package (€428) is where the real money is.
  • →Anchorless advertises its bundle at €438, '€90 off'. That's measured against the pre-discount prices of €149 + €379. Against the promotional prices the same site is currently selling (€99 + €359 = €458), the real saving is €20.
  • →e-Residence sells no bundle at all — but its bank opening is the priciest here (€499 remote, €799 in person), so mixing providers is worth doing: buy the NIF from one and the account opening from another.
  • →The bundle's real value isn't the discount, it's the sequencing. You can't open the account without the NIF, so a bundled provider coordinates the two filings and you upload your documents once. If your visa appointment has a date, that coordination is worth more than €20.

The short answer

Moving solo and want it handled in one place? Buy Novomove's solo package. At €359 it's the cheapest bundle we found, the €20 saving is honest arithmetic, and the NIF half includes the full 12 months of fiscal representation. Read our Novomove review for the detail.

Moving as a couple? Novomove's couple package at €428 (two NIFs plus one joint account) saves €30 over the separate prices and is the only advertised couple bundle. Anchorless and e-Residence have no published two-person pricing, so two individual bundles from them cost €716–€876.

Already decided your NIF provider is someone else? You can still buy just a bank account opening from Novomove (€300) or Anchorless (€359) without the NIF half. Nothing forces you to buy both from the same shop. Our NIF service comparison ranks the six providers on the NIF alone.

The rest of this page is the arithmetic: every bundle against every separate price, the couples math, and the honest case for and against buying the two together.

What a bundle actually is

A NIF bundle is two services in one checkout: the provider files your tax number with Finanças, then opens a Portuguese bank account in your name once the NIF exists. The bank is a real Portuguese bank (Novo Banco accounts are common in this market), opened remotely with a power of attorney, and the account behaves like any account you could open at a branch. It just arrives without you flying to Portugal. If the account is all you need and the NIF is already sorted, skip the bundle math: our standalone account-opening services compared shows what the account alone costs, service by service.

The honest convenience is sequencing, not money. Banks require the NIF before they open the account, so buying separately means waiting for provider A to finish before provider B can start. A bundled provider runs the sequence internally, and you upload your passport, proof of address and proof of income once instead of twice. Our bank account guide covers what the account itself costs to run once it's open. For the NIF half of the bill on its own, including renewals and checkout extras, see what a NIF really costs.

The bundle math, provider by provider

Bundle prices checked on provider sites in October 2026. Separate prices are the same providers' own published rates — that's the only comparison that matters, because nobody advertises a bundle against a competitor's cheaper components.

* Anchorless's bank and NIF figures are its current promotional rates (€379 and €149 before discount). Its bundle banner prices the saving against those pre-discount totals, not the promo prices.

Anchorless: the €90 saving that isn't

Anchorless's bundle page shows the combined package at €438, marked down from €528 — a €90 saving. Both numbers are real, but the €528 is the sum of the pre-discount prices (€149 for the NIF, €379 for the account), and the provider is simultaneously selling those same services at €99 and €359. Add the promo prices and you get €458. The bundle's actual saving is €20, identical to Novomove's — not €90.

That doesn't make the Anchorless bundle bad. The bank half is a fuller package (debit and credit cards delivered worldwide, a loyalty program), the company's 1–2 day premium NIF rush applies if you're on a deadline, and €20 off plus one point of contact is a fair deal. It just makes the banner a discount against a price you'd never pay. Read our Anchorless review before deciding — its ~€149/year fiscal-rep renewal is the steepest of all six providers, which matters more than any bundle saving if you keep the representation into year two.

Novomove: the honest €20

Novomove's pricing page lists the two services and the solo package side by side: NIF €79, bank account €300, solo package €359 with a "save €20" note. No banner math, no pre-discount fiction. The NIF half also carries the strongest inclusions of any bundle here: 12 months of fiscal representation through bar-registered partner lawyers, the Finanças password, and mail scanned to your inbox. For a one-stop buy it's the clearest value in this comparison.

The couple package is where Novomove pulls further ahead: €428 for two NIFs plus one joint account, a €30 saving. Nothing else in this table has published couple pricing, so two people buying separate Anchorless bundles would pay €876 — more than double. If you're moving with a partner, the couple package is the only bundle deal with real money in it.

The rest: no bundle, or no data

e-Residence sells both halves — the NIF (~€79, or €69 with a discount code) and a remote bank opening at €499 — but no combined price. That's an invitation to mix: buy the €79 NIF from e-Residence if its review history is what convinces you, and the €300 account opening from Novomove. Two checkouts, one email to coordinate, €578 down to €379. Its bank opening is also the most gated: non-EU key clients need a salary above €5,000 a month, or savings above €35,000, or a property purchase in progress. Our e-Residence review has the full conditions.

Visas.pt pairs a €95 no-rep NIF with a €395 bank account setup — €490 together, no bundle discount. That's fine if you're an EU citizen who genuinely doesn't need fiscal representation, but the €95 NIF is the most expensive of the six for what it includes. And if you're non-EU, buying the NIF here and then adding a standalone fiscal representative elsewhere erases the point. Our Visas.pt review walks through the trade-off.

NIFPortugal.pt (nif.com.pt) is the odd one. Its pricing page uses the exact same Solo and Couple package names as Novomove, with €50 and €70 saving badges — but the actual prices sit inside images, invisible to text. We couldn't verify a total, so it stays out of the rankings. A provider that won't publish a price in text is a provider you should price against before paying.

Bordr publishes no bank opening service at all, so there's no bundle to price. Its NIF is $150 plus 23% Portuguese VAT, pitched at Americans — if you want Bordr's support hours, you'll buy the account opening elsewhere.

When the bundle is the wrong buy

Skip every bundle if you'll be in Portugal anyway. A walk-in at a bank branch with your NIF costs nothing in service fees, and the NIF itself is free at a Finanças office. The bundles exist for people who need the paperwork finished before they board the plane.

Skip it too if you only need one half. Plenty of movers already hold a Portuguese account from a previous stay, or arrive with a NIF issued years ago that never expires. Buying a bundle for a NIF you already have is a €79–99 donation.

And if the visa only needs the account balance, not the account provider: a fintech account with a Portuguese IBAN can satisfy some applications, though consulates vary and most expect a Portuguese bank. Check your consulate's checklist before gambling a visa on it.

What the account itself costs after the bundle

The bundle fee is a one-time opening cost. The account then behaves like any Portuguese account: expect monthly maintenance of roughly €5–10, plus the bank's own card and transfer fees, and a minimum initial deposit (Novo Banco's Prestige-type accounts, common in this market, ask for €250). Those running costs apply whether the account arrived via a bundle or a branch visit — providers don't control them, banks do. For the current tariff at each bank, see our bank fees comparison.

Red flags before you pay for a bundle

No provider can guarantee an account opening date — the bank's compliance review is the final word, and non-resident applications get extra scrutiny. Walk away from guaranteed timelines, payment demanded by wire transfer with no invoice, and any bundle priced far below €350 (the math only works if one half is missing or imaginary). Also confirm which bank the account will be at: a bundle that won't name the bank is selling a promise, not a product.

Frequently asked questions

Is it cheaper to buy a NIF and bank account as a bundle?

Barely. Novomove's solo bundle saves €20 (€359 vs €379 separate) and its couple bundle saves €30 (€428 vs €458). Anchorless's bundle saves €20 against its current promotional prices (€438 vs €458) — the €90 saving it advertises is measured against pre-discount prices. The bundle's real value is coordination: the NIF must be issued before the account can be opened, and a bundled provider runs that sequence for you.

Which NIF + bank account bundle is the best deal in 2026?

Novomove, for most buyers. Its €359 solo package is the cheapest bundle we verified, the €20 saving is honest, and the NIF half includes 12 months of fiscal representation through bar-registered lawyers. For couples, its €428 couple package (two NIFs, one joint account) has no published competition.

Can I open a Portuguese bank account without a NIF first?

No — the NIF is required before the bank will open the account, which is exactly why these bundles exist. Buy the NIF alone first if you prefer separate providers; just expect the account opening to start only once the NIF document is in hand. Remote account openings typically take 2–4 weeks after that.

How much does the bank account cost after the bundle fee?

The bundle fee is a one-time opening cost. Running costs are set by the bank, not the provider: roughly €5–10 a month in maintenance, plus card and transfer fees. Novo Banco's Prestige-type accounts, common in this market, also ask for a €250 minimum initial deposit.

Do I need fiscal representation if I buy a bundle?

Non-EU citizens applying remotely do — in practice every legitimate provider routes the application through one. Novomove's bundle includes 12 months of it; Anchorless includes 6 months on its standard plan. Under Decree-Law 44/2022 you can drop the rep after year one by activating electronic notifications on the Portal das Finanças. EU citizens can usually skip representation entirely.

Is Anchorless's €90 bundle discount real?

It's real arithmetic against unreal prices. The €90 is measured against the pre-discount totals (€149 NIF + €379 bank = €528), while Anchorless is simultaneously selling those services at €99 and €359. Against those promotional prices the bundle saves €20 — the same as Novomove's. Price every bundle against what you'd actually pay, not the crossed-out figure.

What if I already have a NIF or already have a bank account?

Buy only the half you need. Novomove and Anchorless both sell the bank account opening separately (€300 and €359), and every provider sells the NIF alone. A NIF never expires, so a number issued years ago is still valid — paying for it again inside a bundle is money for nothing.

Can couples get a joint bundle deal?

Novomove publishes one: the couple package at €428 covers two NIFs and one joint bank account, saving €30. No other provider we checked publishes two-person pricing. The alternative is two solo bundles — €718 at Novomove, €876 at Anchorless.
